1 skein of either Caron® One Pound #581 Espresso, or Red Heart Super Saver #0365 Coffee worsted-weight yarn

Size J/10 (6mm) crochet hook, or size needed for gauge (for the crown)

Size G/6 (4.25mm) crochet hook (for the bib)

Tapestry needle, scissors

Instructions

Ch 4, join with sl st to form ring.

Rnd 1:  Ch 2, 10 dc into ring, join with sl st.

Rnd 2:  Ch 2, 2 dc in each st around, join with sl st.  (20 sts)

Rnd 3:  Ch 2, *(1 dc in next st, 2 dc in next st), repeat from * around, join with sl st.  (30 sts)

Rnd 4:  Ch 2, *(1 dc in next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st), repeat from * around, join with sl st.  (40 sts)

Rnd 5:  Ch 2, *(1 dc in next 3 sts, 2 dc in next st), repeat from * around, join with sl st.  (50 sts)

Rnd 6:  Ch 2, *(1 dc in next 9 sts, 2 dc in next st), repeat from * around, join with sl st.  (55 sts)

Rnd 7 and all odd rounds through 15:  Ch 2, *(FPdc in 1^st st from hook, BPdc in next st), repeat from * until last st, FPdc in last st, join with sl st.

Rnd 8 and all even rounds through 16:  Ch 2, *(BPdc in 1^st st from hook, FPdc in next st), repeat from * until last st, BPdc in last st, join with sl st.

Rnd 17:  Ch 1, sc in each st around, join with sl st.  Fasten off, weave in ends.

Now for the bib

Take two strands of yarn to make the bib, with the right side facing you.

Row 1:  Ch 1 (counts as 1^st st only in this row), sc in next st, *(2 sc in next st, 1 sc in next 2 sts), repeat from 3^rd to last st, 2 sc in next st, sc in next st, sl st in next st.  (22 sts)

Row 2:  Ch 1, turn (back loops only for this row), sc in 2^nd st from hook, sc in each st until last st, sl st in next 2 sts.  (23 sts)

Row 3:  Ch 1, turn, begin row in 2^nd st from hook, *(sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st), repeat from * until 2^nd to last st, sc in next st, sl st in next 2 sts.  (28 sts)

Row 4:  Ch 1, turn, sc in 2^nd st from hook, sc in each st until last st, sl st in next 2 sts.  (29 sts)

Row 5:  Ch 1, turn, begin row in 2^nd st from hook, *(sc in next 4 sts, 2 sc in next st), repeat from * until last st, sl st in next 2 sts.  (35 sts)

Row 6:  Repeat row 4.  (36 sts)  Fasten off, weave in ends.
